In the summer of 2014 I was extremely lucky to go back to Canada. Whilst there our family friend took us on a day trip to Kelowna. We had some time to kill and so opted to go for an explore of Knox Mountain. Having headed up to the highest view point we went to return to the car, only to find this Mule Deer just across from us in the shade of the trees. Such a wonderful moment encountering wildlife in its natural habitat.

Okanagan Valley
The Okanagan Valley taken from Knox Mountain in Kelowna, BC. We went for a walk along on of the hiking paths. The one we chose apparently runs down the side of the mountain for about a mile until it reaches a public beach. We were only there for a short time so we just took in the beautiful views of the valley in the summer sunshine. Whilst we were here there were fire warnings up, it's not hard to see why with the golden dry grass covering the hills. Such a lovely place to soak up the sunshine.

Smoke in the Valley
Whilst in Canada this summer I experienced a couple of the forest fires within interior BC. Driving back from Vancouver on the greyhound bus we passed through the Okanagan Valley, which was affected by the smoke from the Kelowna fire. Here I captured a photo of the valley in the evening when it should have still been light outside.

Mule Encounter
Whilst visiting friends in Kelowna, we took a trip up the nearby Knox Mountain. As it was so hot whilst we were there, we opted to drive to the top lookout point. On returning to the car we noticed this lovely deer enjoying the shade of the trees and I couldn't help but snap a picture or two to remember the moment.
